It’s based on the popular Boss OC-2 pedal but with many more features and customisability far beyond what other octavers offer, both. Octaver OC-D2, developed by Christopher Hooker, is an octave divider vst plugin that generates signals one and two octaves below the original. This plug-in is free for both personal and commercial use, but please don't redistribute - just refer others to this page or directly to the download link above. This plug-in has the capability to easily reproduce this mod, by adjusting only a few parameters. Many users of the Boss OC-2 pedal seek to add a hardware modification that disables the output filter and dynamics sections in order to produce a more synth-like tone.On the detection circuit: fine-tunes the accuracy of the octave-divider's tracking. "Listen" radio buttons allow the user to tap the audio at various stages to see on the scope and hear what's happening behind the scenes, and solo each octave without losing mix settings. Octaver OC-D2 View Version 1.4 Release Notes Features Controls to all the typically fixed values for low-pass filters: On octave outputs: changes tone from full square wave, or harmonic content, to smooth sine wave.Includes a "Scope Tuning" control to affect the zoom ratio. A scope displays both the key signal and the output signal, so the user can see how the plug-in is operating, and help identify what controls need to be adjusted in order to track more accurately or produce the intended sound.A DC-offset switch corrects the input signal to improve tracking on rectified or offset signals.Kiloheartz has a cheap pitch shifter that works really well. You could also record the original sound, then use Ableton's Warping algorithms to pitch it down an octave, and run it in a group along with the original track. In Polarity-Multiplier modes, the full dynamics of the key signal are retained. Set it to Modulator mode, turn the formant down an octave, then play with the dry/wet. In Oscillator mode, dynamics for the oscillators can be controlled either by a noise gate or an envelope follower, both keyed off the input signal. The Oscillator mode simply mixes in the octave-down signals, whereas the Polarity-Multiplier modes flip the polarity of the key signal, in two different ways. Option of three modes of octave-signal generation: Oscillator-generation or 2 Polarity-Multiplier methods. On octave outputs: changes tone from full square wave, or harmonic content, to smooth sine wave. Controls to all the typically fixed values for low-pass filters:.If you have drive pedals I recommend putting them in the fx loop, and placing the fx loop block before the amp on path 1 in order to keep the low end clean.Īdditional audio demos on the Helix SVT bass preset page. If you have your own compressor, octave, or other pedals, you may wish to disable/delete similar blocks in the main amp preset to free up DSP for other blocks from the FX preset in this bundle. If you have an active bass you will need to lower the level on the compressor block so that the amp block is not getting hit so hard.Įxperiment with the HX Stomp input level set to instrument or line level, whichever works better for your setup. The preset is meant to be used with a passive bass. Triangle Fuzz (muff) - before amp on path 1 Please note the recommended locations for each block. Feel free to copy them into the main preset if you’d like to experiment with some different effects. The effects preset comes with several blocks. You will need to unzip the archive file to access the two presets. This is a package that comes with 2 presets: the main one with the amps and a few effects, and a second with effects you can copy/paste into the main preset. What we have now with the parallel SVT amp models is dramatically better than what is possible with a single Noble and pedals. Plus, if you want a more classic octave sound, the Mono switch has you covered with low-octave tones that resemble the warm tones of the MXR Vintage Bass Octave. 1 ChrisHooker Maryville, TN Hey everyone, In an attempt to achieve a better Boss OC-2, I created this VST plug-in. In order to dial in version 1.0 of this preset, we compared it to a Noble preamp and were successful in nailing that sound. This preset has both SVT amp channels in parallel to create massive bass tones. The blend of the two sounds should work pretty well. Then you can use EZ bass and octave up and use a high pass filter to cut out the subs, just use it as a bass grit/distortion track. Requires firmware 3.5 or later.ĭesigned by an LA session bass player, Blake Riley, and me. Listeners wont even be able to tell its a synth.
